The Roots Know More: To the Land – A Case Study of Tong Wenmin

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the He Art Museum (HEM) presents “The Roots Know More,” a large-scale international group exhibition featuring over 100 works by artists from around the world. Rooted in Canton and radiating across the broader “South,” the exhibition reaffirms HEM’s core value of dialogue and marks a milestone in the museum’s five years of growth.

“To the Land – A Case Study of Tong Wenmin” presents artist Tong Wenmin’s exploration of ritual as another form of understanding: a passage from collective memory to a direct dialogue between body and earth. Through this unit, we come to understand that the “South” is no longer only a conceptual inquiry, but also a physical practice.
