The rooftop art project of Microneme Space launches its second exhibition, Yang Jian: A Big Metaphor, on May 12, 2019. Artist Yang Jian implements one of his space installations works on the rooftop and Tang Xun Lake.
The Microneme Rooftop Project is oriented on the outdoor roof of Microneme for various artists to be invited with an indefinite period of time to generate artworks, along with pedagogical and academic workshops in the venue.
Yang Jian has worked primarily in video and installation. He received a BA (2004) and MA (2007) from the Art College of Xiamen University and was a resident artist at the Rijksakademie Vanbeeldende Kunsten in Netherlands from 2009 to 2010, supported with funding from Stichting Niemeijer Fonds (NL). He won the Judging Panel Special Award of HUAYU Youth Award in 2015. He has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Netherlands, USA and China, He currently lives and works in Beijing and Nanjing, China.
